At least for Jrnie in her latest outting as Marissa in the Bioman short we are working on.

Jrnie

Many thanks to Lewisville ATA Martial Arts and Cody Coleman for letting us use the facility today to shoot a scene.

One more day to go and Bioman is done.

Project update-age

Posted: May 3, 2012 in Uncategorized

Taurian Films folks have been hard at work the last few weeks on a short little film project. A parody of the Power Rangers/Super Sentai of which I am a huge fan of. I wrote a script and I am using footage from the early 80s show, Bioman. The cast is 99% filled by members of Icon Studios which have been a big help. Very fun, very professional people.

Shooting has gone pretty well to this point. We have a few scenes left to go. I have cobbled together some footage in a couple cuts, just mainly going from point A to point B and to show the cast what things are looking like.

I’ve got all the villain V/O done and am waiting to get the heroes done as well.

Learning new things each and every time, which is the goal.

Hoping to have a cut of the short done by the end of the month.

Just a friendly update

…on where we’re at on FF:v.

In short, still waiting. Waiting on the guy who is supposed to do the blue prints for the costume. Supposed to have done them a while ago, in time enough to meet the deadline for the contest. Not very happy about that, but it’s what happens when you have a few specific people who can do the work you need done.

We didn’t get to meet Sunday for further fight scene work as Normita (stunt woman) was tied up with preparations for the premiere event she is holding in Plano this Thursday. I was not stressing about it since the deadline is shot basically.

So work will continue on getting the blueprints and the suit built. Going to talk to a manager at a location I’d like to shoot the gas station scene in the script. I will likely wrangle Hollee and Michelle together at least once before we actually shoot to read through the script and go over how things will be so it can be nice and smooth once we are on location.

Finishing my DIY lighting kit, as well as working on getting a bag to carry my camera and my lenses. Also looking to reach out to people around here and assemble a crew. Seth and I are going to work on papering the two universities on Thursday let’s see who we pick up then.

Sent out an order of business cards, ideally they will get here on or before Thursday so I can have them to hand out at the premiere. Come on Mr. Postman don’t fail me now.

It’s a fight…

Well sort of.

Saturday a cabal of us came together at the Jenesis barbershop to start hashing out the action that takes place in the warehouse in the latter half of the FF:v script. I recorded the work and I am cutting it together for the people involved so they can look it over and be working on getting it into their head. There are roughly three parts to the fight. Separated by bouts of dialogue.

I am interested to see how it turns out as shooting action stuff is way different from shooting the other content I have done before in journalism and my filmmaking endeavors. Learning process though, that’s the good part.

Same place and time for this Sunday I believe, that’s the hope anyway, have to check with everyone else’s schedules. Keith Lee was absent last weekend as he was called into work, but he is banking on being there this time. Which is good.

Clock’s ticking.

I am hoping to make the deadline, but do have fears that the guys working on the suit blueprints will not come through in time. Keeping my fingers crossed that they still do.

FF:v progress

So I have a suit actress now for FF:v.

After meeting with Normita Joven from Icon Studios in Dallas, she was the one for the job. In addition to working with me on this project, after talking to her about her company and what she is doing with it, there is some opportunities for collaboration down the line that I am excited about. Things that can benefit both Icon and Taurian.

As for FF:v, Sunday I am gathering with Normita, Keith Lee and Michelle DuBose to work on the choreography for the all important action scene in the script.

I shot a scene last week with Hollee McMurray, Dakota Buchanan and Thomas Bennett. Went off pretty well. I was hobbled a bit during the shoot of course and I wish I had shot a few different angles, but it happens. I like what I shot and I like what the actors involved did. I am anxious to see the fully finished final product. It’s coming soon.

Some still to tide folks over in the meantime:

Just hoping the guys working on the blueprints of the suit get on that PDQ, as that’s the only forseable hiccup I see in this project’s completion. Crossing my fingers that it does not come to that.

Auditions came and went…

And they were fun and interesting i like to think. Things started off a bit rocky as some folks who came in a group arrived at the building, but they were at the wrong entrance. I assumed everyone  would end up on the Hickory Street side of the building. But, they were discovered and brought into the building and the conference room which served as the waiting area. I had nine people. Which is more than I expected to ever get.

Three prospects for Joseph, Jr. three for Joseph, Sr. two for Gabriella and one for Brenda. I have another prospect for Brenda, who got signals crossed and thought the auditions were Sunday. So I have to meet with her this week as well as the other couple of martial artists.

I will be sending out e-mails offering roles later. Things have been slowed down slightly in the last couple days due to dealing with my injury and now with the prospect of surgery tomorrow, things will be put off for another day, well some work on the project,

I am still planning on shooting not this weekend, but the next weekend, depending on weather. I had hope it would be warm enough for an outdoor block of shooting, but Texas weather is currently in one of its crazy mood swings, where it is cold and rainy, we shall see what it looks like in a week.

Still moving onward and upward on this project and optimistic about it.

FFV – Auditions 2/11/12

Yes indeed, they are going down tomorrow at 314 East Hickory in Denton. The Denton Record-Chronicle building.
I haven’t worked as much on things in the last couple days do to dealing with injuries suffered in pursuit of my other love besides film and that is professional wrestling. I’ll be hobbling around a bit tomorrow on crutches, but it has to be done to meet the film festival deadline. It’s going to make shooting interesting. I have a handful of folks scheduled. I hope to have more people that just happen to see the posts online that show up, but we’ll see how it goes. Just to reiterate the details of it:

FFV is one of Taurian Films’ projects for the Your Film Festival contest.
Shooting will take place in Denton and Pilot Point mid-Feb. to early March for the 3/31 contest deadline.

The story centers on a path of personal redemption for Gabriella Worthy, a disgraced former… Olympic swimmer. Her life the last several years has been on a downward spiral following the discovery that she skirted the law along the way to her competitive success.

Broken and isolated, Gabriella meets Cera, a young alien girl out to prove she is every bit the soldier her brothers were. The paths of the two become locked. They’ll either succeed, earn their redemption and prove their worth or be crushed and thrown into the wind.

Character Breakdowns:

· Gabriella Worthy – early to mid 20′s, white or Hispanic – Once on top of the world of competitive swimming until it was discovered she used steroids. Her world came crashing down around her topped off by a car accident that left her in a wheel chair. Now years later she is angry, bitter and alone. She shrugged it off for as long as she could but even she knows she needs to find a way to restore her name and belief in herself.

· Joseph Hendricks – mid 20?s, white or Hispanic – A physical therapist for the upstart rehabilitation ReCare. Joseph is a single father going through an ugly split from his high school sweetheart. He tries to be tough for the sake of his 10-year-old son, JR, but the drama does where on him. He is a very caring therapist, almost annoyingly so. He believes everyone can be helped and often gets personally involved in cases and goes out of his way to help.

· Joseph Hendricks, Jr. – 10, white or Hispanic – An angry little guy. He doesn’t know how to deal with his feelings about his parents splitting up and often ends up throwing out attitude at everyone from teachers, to his friends to his parents. His especially wary, and a jerk to, any women that come around he and his father.

· Brenda Taylor – Early to mid-20′s, any race – The annoyingly perky host of the Entertainment Zone tabloid news program.
